Message-ID: The same topic is up in Pardus Worldforum. But I will write it here to. I get some respond from the bug report # 17706 "Hi, I've tried to import some old packages from other Packagers from 2009.2 to 2011. After some time, I tought that enough packages was imported to 2011. As you said, we see that's not correct. There are lots of packages that should be imported to 2011. However we lack of Packagers of these packages. Moving packages is easily, however maintining them is the real problem. For example Licq. After moving it to 2011, who will maintain it ? What if a new version appears and I didn't see this new version release coming ? I currently have ~300 packages (like other Pardus developers), and believe me It's really hard to look for all of them. We just have to find a way how to maintain these packages after moving to 2011. But I think we all can fix this. With the community itself. >From now on, I'll think to spend 1-2 hours of my spare time to these packages (may be other developers could join me too). But I can't do that alone. Alatalo, Henrik, and others shoud have a *top-list* of packages that are in 2009.2 but not in 2011. The list should be created with the community and a list should be created (may be going trough Bugzilla and find all package request for 2009.2 packages). And everyday we should review and go trough this list. They should me ping, mail, vs.. that I should not forget it . I think we could use a new repo for this. A communtiy based repo (not official). This communtiy based repo could solve all our problems in the first step. These packages could reside there until a maintainer(Developer) decide to move these to 2011. (I'll think to take over some of these, but currently I'm really overload with packages). Anyone who want use a package (like Licq), could easily download from these community repo. What do you think ?" So we should create a sort of "top list" of the programs that we want in Pardus 2011. Or write here what we miss from Pardus 2009.2 I personally would like to have this programs included: 1.Licq (was in Pardus 2009.2) 2.Gyance Improved (new package request) I included this link in the bug report so they can look when more comments and request for applications will be filled up. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... According to me, you dont have a graphic card problem. Because during installation session no graphic things needed. 5. Ar you sure your computer uses 64 bit ? it may also problem if you are installing 64 bit pardus to 32 bit machine. 6. why dont you use 32 bit pardus ? it is more usefull and has more programs than 64 (just like 32 windows programs more than 64 bit programs) 7. it is better to download pardus 32 bit and try install from USB. 8 if you have 4GB or higher you can write iso file to USB. Right ? I 'll try to explain both windows and pardus way to write to USB: *Via Pardus:* if you have pardus, it is very easy to write iso to USB (inorder to install pardus from USB) 1.Go to dolphin application in pardus. 2.press F4 for a black screen will open blow 3. be sure you are in the same folder with iso file 4. connect your USB to your computer * Small info:* * (if you have only one harddisk, this means you have "sda", second harddisk means "sdb" and 3.th one is named as "sdc" goes on like this.) (no matter how many partition you have important thing is how many harddisks you have, each partition in "c:" can be sda1, sda2 sda3 and here " a" means harddisk, a n1,2,3, means each partition in C: if we compare with windows) so if you have one harddisk it means you have sda and if you connect your USB to your computer this means Pardus (or linux) see it as "sdb" *after such small info:* 5. in the black screen just write "*dd if=Pardus-2011-Live-i686.iso of=/dev/sdb1 bs=4M* "and press enter. * "dd" is the command * "Pardus-2011-Live-i686.iso" is the file you want to install (you may change if your file has different name) * "sdb1" is your USB media ( "b" is important here) *Via windows*: there are many ways *A. *you can find from english pardus wiki Pardus english wiki wiki http://en.pardus-wiki.org/Pardus:Installation2008netbook *B.* I'll try more to explain easy way more or less the same what we do in pardus; I got it from turkis pardus wiki ( * http://tr.pardus-wiki.org/NASIL:Kal%C4%B1p_dosyas%C4%B1n%C4%B1_USB_belle%C4%9Fe_yazmak * ) *Steps:* 1) download http://www.chrysocome.net/downloads/dd-0.5.zip for writing iso file to usb 2) by using this program for 32 bit 2011 pardus; you write under dos command line (dos console) "*dd if="C:\ISOnun\adresi\Pardus-2011-i686.iso" of=\\.\g: bs=4M*" *Please be carefull;* in this comment line, "*C:\ISOnun\adresi\"* is the folder that your iso file *"Pardus-2011-i686.iso"* the iso file you want to wirte to USB "*g:*" is the drive that your USB is placed. So according to your USB drive letter should change it. For being sure Turkish explanation is blow (you can follow what to write and program download link aswell) Hope it helps, Best Regards, Tanjan OZBILGI 2.Y?ntem Windows ortam?nda melez ISO kal?b?n? However, the basic problem of installation remains (on the PC). The programme after two or three screen garbles the display as explained hereunder so I cannot install it. I have installed 64 bit successfully on a laptop. However, both the 32bit and 64 bit crash on this computer (PC). I have written the 32 bit and 64 bit to DVDs too, but cannot install on the pc. Can you suggest a remedy?
